#EkitiDecides2018: NBC Shuts Down Ekiti State Broadcasting Service

The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has shut down the Ekiti State Broadcasting Service for breaching provision of the broadcasting code.

The NBC said the shutdown became necessary following the illegal announcement of the governorship election result by the state Governor Ayodele Fayose of his deputy and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prof Kolapo Olusola as winner of the election.

Fayose had gone on air earlier to announce yet to be collated results from across the State thereby creating tension and confusion among the electorates.

The Governor’s action is in contravention of the broadcasting code in Nigeria.
