According to AFN, Okagbare was missing from the event due to a sustained injury during her warm up for the competiton.
Earlier, there had been high hopes that Okagbare would come back strong in the 200m event following her failure to meet mounting expectations in the 100m, but the AFN in a statement said the double champion in the Commonwealth was held back by a hamstring injury.
“She (Okagbare) had a hamstring injury during warm-up,” the statement from the AFN stated.
It continued: “Blessing was focused on doing well in the 200m, her warm up was okay but she developed an hamstring injury”.
“Nevertheless, she is expected to make a recovery in time to compete for Team Nigeria in the women’s 4x100m relay,” it said.
