Nigeria made history on Sunday when it beat long standing rival, Angola to win 74-65 at the African Basketball Nations Cup for the first time ever which also gave the team an automatic ticket to the Rio 2016 Olympics.
This will be the second Olympic appearance for Nigeria’s Men’s team after the first showing at the London 2012 Olympics.
Angola had previously beaten Nigeria in all the nine times that they had met since 1987. In those meets, Angola beat the Tigers in the final matches of 1999 in Luanda and 2003 in Alexandria, Egypt, being the last they battled like this.
