Nigerian movie industry known as Nollywood has been thrown into yet another mourning following the death of a child actor, Olamide David.
Olamide who won the best Kid actor at the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards 2015 was said to be playing football with his friends yesterday, Sunday January 17th when he was mistakenly kicked in the stomach by another player.
He fell to the ground and complained of pains, other players on the pitch immediately rushed him to General Hospital, Ikeja where he died few hours later in the early hours of today Jan. 18th.
Olamide played the lead role in Foluke Daramola’s movie, Cobweb which won him the 2015 BON child actor Awards.
Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola has described his demise untimely. She took to social media to mourn the death of David and dedicated her yet to be released movie “cobweb” to him.
She posted the picture of David and captioned it with:
“Death! where is your sting? Olamide David, my lead character in Cobweb, why does it have to be now? Why why why?,” she asked rhetorically.
“Olamide David is gone, a great star is gone! why should this happen now? such a pity “cobweb” did not come out before you died. …The movie is dedicated to you.May ur gentle and peaceful soul rest in perfect peace.Amen
Olamide featured in several movies until his death. He was just 14 years old. So sad! May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
