Christopher Julius popularly known as Chris Rock, an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer teased the 2016 Academy “Oscar” in a promo video he uploaded on his social media page. He tagged the annual award with #OscarsSoWhite and “The White BET Awards.
The 50-year-old comedian who will be hosting this year’s Oscar award posted on his Twitter page on Friday a promo video stating three reasons to watch the annual prestigious ceremony, the top event honoring the best in film, a day after the nominations were announced.
The nominations for the 2016 Academy Awards was announced on Thursday, hours after the announcement, black celebrities called out the Oscar organisers on social media over discrimination. 2016 academy award makes it second year in a row where black actors are not nominated in any of the four major acting categories.

Chris Rock while sharing the promo teaser for the Feb.28 Oscars called the award different names, he tagged it #OscarsSoWhite and “The White BET Awards.

In the video, the comedian teases three reasons why viewers should tune in: He said:
1 “Presenter cleavage, 2 “Check out who died this year” and  3 “I might curse.”

Actress Jaden Pinkett Smith who was not happy with the lack of diversity with the nominations for the 88th Academy Awards took to twitter on Saturday to express her concerns.

She wrote: “But we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments. Should people of color refrain from participating all together? People can only treat us in the way in which we allow. With much respect in the midst of deep disappointment”.

Al Sharpton

American civil rights activist, Al Sharpton in a tweet after the announcement also criticized the Academy. He wrote:

“Hollywood has a fraudulent image of progressive and liberal politics and policies. We must take direct action to correct this. Talk is cheap”.

“All white Oscar nominations are another example of the lack of diversity in Hollywood. Like the Rocky Mts. The higher u climb the whiter”.

“Yet again, deserving Black actors and directors were ignored by the Academy—which reinforces the fact that there are few if any Blacks with real power in Hollywood.”

However the Academy “Oscar” Awards, has not commented on the criticism.
