Former Governor of Abia State and candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), in the forthcoming Abia North Senatorial rerun, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, has promise to address the problems of the ongoing agitation by pro-Biafra groups such as Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB) and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, (IPOB), if elected.
Kalu made this pledge while addressing supporters during the last phase of his campaign tour at Igbere, Abia North, as he maintained that the issue of the pro-Biafra groups is a sensitive one which requires someone who is well respected by the people to handle, noting that he is more than capable to handle the issue as he will settle it amicably and make all aggrieved parties to be happy.
The Doctor furthered that he will liaise with President Muhammadu Buhari on the agitation of the pro-Biafra groups so that justice can be done where there is injustice and the people will be happy.
“Agitators, whether they are in MASSOB, IPOB or any other group, have their sentiments and if I get to the Senate, I will establish a proper dialogue between them and the Federal Government so that the problem will be settled amicably.
“With President Muhammadu Buhari, I know, we are going to find a common ground so that justice can be done where there is injustice and the people will be happy.” Kalu said.
Kalu also assured that if given the mandate, he would continue to champion the cause of Ndigbo while in the Senate.
