Corruption House: Doyin Okupe, Sahara Reporters Engage In Twitter War

By Philips Sunday

It seems the war of words on micro blogging site, Twitter, is the new trend now in Nigeria. Last month it was Senator Ben Bruce and Japhath Omojuwa, previous week it was PDP Director of new media, Deji Adeyanju and APC supporter Segun.

Today, Thursday, March 03, 2016, online media, Sahara Reporters and Goodluck Jonathan’s former aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe, decided to join the trend.

It all started when Sahara Reporters uploaded a photo of a building located in Ipetu, Ogun state, with claims that it belongs to Doyin Okupe.

Check out the conversation below:

“The House That Corruption Built: Doyin Okupe unveils his mansion in Ipetu, Ogun state”. Sahara Reporters tweeted.

Furious Okupe replied “If I built dis house in my hometown@ 64 what is news about this?I lived in mansions while u were being raised on d streets”.

Sahara Reporters fired back “It wouldn’t have been a problem if you earned your wealth legitimately if hadn’t diverted monies from arms purchase, Imo & Benue”.

Okupe continued “my house which I started building in 2009 is by far better than this detached house in Maitama. U will hear from my lawyers”.

Sahara Reporters respond with “Your lawyers admitted in 2012 that you were involved in shady contracts in 2004 and 2005 in Benue & Imo states. They’ll remind u”.

Okupe replied “fed high court ruled that there was no fraud in the Benue contract. We had a fine for which appeal is on at d supreme court. All u do is damage & defame innocent people.Mark my words d wrath of God who defend d innocent will fall on yr evil set up”.

Sahara Reporters fired “back In 2004 & 2005 cases you’re arrested.2015 cited in the corruption of Dasuki’s that led to the loss of lives of troops”.

Okupe replied “U are actually a disgrace to journalism. I was never cited in dasuki affair. D NSA office pays for d running of my office”.

Sahara Reporters respond with “Ibrahim Idris Wambai said you were receiving cash payments from the NSA office. How much cash did you receive from Dasuki?

Reacting to Sahara Reporters allegation that Mr. Okupe built his house with illegal funds, PDP Political analyst, Demola Olarewaju said “this house belongs to a PDP chieftain from Kebbi State not Okupe’s, actually located in Maitama Extension in Abuja. Your continued campaign of calumny on behalf of the ACN bloc against PDP-SW and the CPC faction is reckless”.
