The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, on Monday, relaunched the War Against Indiscipline, WAI Brigade, in Abuja.

The administration explained that the body will aide civil intelligence gathering in area of insecurity, violence, kidnapping, and other forms of social vices.

The role of the Brigade in civil intelligence gathering cannot be over emphasized.

Director-General, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Dr. Garba Abari, said the President Buhari administration has declared the intention to relaunch the Brigade for better performance, as well as to bring its activities to the fore.

Buhari alongside Tunde Idiagbon while he was the Military Head of State from 1984 to 1985, had introduced WAI as a panacea for corruption and to force Nigerians into exhibiting correct ethical conduct.

It was however, criticised for human rights abuses regarding freedom, justice and equality, as the military brought its powers to bear in enforcing discipline on Nigerians.

The theme of the meeting was “Repositioning The WAI Brigade for Enhanced Civil Intelligence Gathering.”

The program’s intention was to instill public morality, social order, civic responsibilities in Nigerians, and promote Nigerian nationalism.
