Ghana, (AN24) – Just like President Goodluck Jonathan did in 2015 Presidential election in Nigeria, the flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and incumbent President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has finally conceded defeat and congratulated his opponent, Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The new development was disclosed by Citi FM’s reporter at Nana Akufo-Addo’s residence on Friday evening.
According to the reporter, President John Mahama called the presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), to concede defeat.
Recall that the other five presidential candidates had on Thursday, conceded defeat and congratulated Nana Akufo-Addo, which in turn mounted pressure on the incumbent President to do the needful by conceding defeat as well.
Meanwhile, before President Mahama conceded defeat, he and the National Democratic Congress had earlier rubbished claims by the opposition NPP that they are in a commanding lead gaining over 54 percent votes in the polls held on December 7, 2016 though the EC was yet to make a declaration.
As at the time of filing this report, the Electoral Commission of Ghana, (ECG) led by Charlotte Osei, was yet to declare the final results of the Presidential election n the country.
