Delta, (AN24) – The thanksgiving service in honour of former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori is currently taking place in the First Baptist Church, Oghara, Delta State with top government officials in attendance.
Recall that Ibori was arrested and arraigned in Britain over money laundering charges after his extradition from Dubai by the government of the United Arab Emirates. The British court found him guilty of various charges and was handed a jail term.
The PDP Chieftain who had served his term in United Kingdom prison and was freed recently, arrived Nigeria last week Saturday, February 4.
On his arrival, the former governor of Delta state was picked up by Department of State Services (DSS) operatives and then taken to the head office of the secret police for a “briefing”.
The ex convict was later released after holding a meeting with the Director General of the DSS, Lawal Daura.
After leaving the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Delta political bigwig flew to his hometown where he was received by a mammoth crowd in Oghara, Delta state.
Meanwhile the thanksgiving service which is taking place in his honour, has in attendance top government officials and traditional rulers in the state.
Notable among the attendees are: Immediate past governor of Delta State His Excellency Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan Uduaghan, former deputy governor of Delta State, Chief Benjamin Elue, Delta State PDP Chairman, Olorogun Barr. Kingsley Esiso and Delta State speaker house of Assembly, , former Police Affairs Minister and his wife, Alaowie and Mrs Broderick Bozimo, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Mr Ovuozourie Macaulay, Chief Solomon Fukekeme, Senator Patrick Osakwe and Mr Festus Ovie Agas, among others..
The thanksgiving service was also attended by several traditional rulers across the state including the Ovie of Oghara, Ovie of Ughelli, Ovie of Evwreni among others.
