London, (AN24) – England Premier League representative, Arsenal football club, were once again humiliated 5-1 by German side, Bayern Munich in the second leg of the UEFA champions league round of 16 game.

Arsenal came into the second leg hoping to score four unreplied goals after they were defeated 5-1 in the first leg in Germany by the German Champions.

Though the gunners opened scoring through Theo Walcott’s emphatic finish on the 20th minutes, the visitors turned the situation around in the second half after captain Laurent Koscielny was red carded on the 53 minutes and a penalty was awarded to the visitors. The situation went from bad to worse for the Gunners after Arjen Robben gave the visitors the lead on the 58th minutes before Douglas Costa made it 3-1 for the German Champions ten minutes later.

Striker, Arturo Vidal completed the rout with his brace on the 80th and 85th minutes to send Bayern to the quarter-finals of the Champions League on a 10-2 aggregate.

In a similar vein, reigning Champions, Real Madrid secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after defeating Napoli 3-1 in Italy.

Mertens opened scoring on the 24th minutes for the home-side before  scoring an own goal to equalize for the visitors 57th minutes.

Alvaro Morata completed a miserable night for Napoli after scoring on the 90th minutes to send the visitors to the quarter-finals of the Champions League on a 6-2 aggregate.
