Kano, (AN24) – Former Governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso on Tuesday, March 14, decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, party to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain defected to the opposition party with ten (10) lawmakers in the state.
Mr. Kwankwaso’s defection was confirmed on micro blogging site, Twitter by All Progressives Congress, APC, News television.
The handle @APCNEWSTV tweeted: “Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso and 10 Kano state lawmakers defect from APC back to PDP today”.
Recall that in March 2016, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kano State chapter had initiated moves to suspend Kwankwaso over what it termed anti-party activities.
The then chairman, Kano chapter of the party, Alhaji Haruna Umar Doguwa, had informed newsmen in Kano that the senator had, during a visit to the state, allegedly exhibited actions capable of compromising the party’s unity.
According to Doguwa: “The case of party indiscipline by Kwankwaso would be thoroughly investigated and dealt with in accordance with the constitution of our party.” Doguwa had said.
Though reasons for Kwankwaso’s defection has not been made known, it may not be unconnected with his ordeals in the ruling party.
