Osun 2018: My Life Is Being Threatened – Lasun

Osogbo, (An24) – Mr. Yusuf Lasun, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has revealed that some unknown persons are after his life for declaring his interest to contest the 2018 governorship election in the state.

Lasun made this known at a press conference in Osogbo on Saturday, he said he has been receiving threat text messages since he made known his intention to contest the governorship election in the state.

He was represented by his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. Aderemi Ajala.

According to him, he has been receiving several death threat messages since he declared interest in the guber race.

He said one of such threats was from a leader of his party, the All Progressives Congress, in the state, warning him and the late Adeleke to suspend their governorship ambition.

He said, “This threat was reported to the Department of State Services, Osun State Command, who investigated the source of the threat. The DSS found out that one Abimbowo as the sender. Abimbowo was arrested and during interrogation, he confessed that a former commissioner ( name withheld) ordered him to send the text.

“The DSS invited the former commissioner for interrogation, while Mr. Abimbowo was detained for two weeks and during the investigation, others that were involved in the threat to the life of Lasun Yusuf were at large.”

Lasun also cited another occasion when another top government official in the state mobilized thugs in the first week of April to stop him from the construction of Eid’s perimeter fence at the praying ground along Ibokun Road in Osogbo.
