The Osun Police Command has said that a suspected explosive device in a car stereo, chopped-off four fingers of an Osogbo resident, who attempted to dismantle the stereo from a damaged car.
A statement issued by Mrs Folashade Odoro, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said the incident happened on Sunday, at about 3.30 p.m, at Ajegunle Area in Osogbo.
The statement was made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Osogbo.
“Information was received at the Police division, Dugbe, Osogbo that one Nasiru Ibrahim got four fingers on his right arm chopped-off while dismantling a damaged car stereo in front of his house.
“Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were quickly deployed to the scene to examine the scene and recover the remains of the car stereo for further examination.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined.
“An investigating team comprising of EOD, SIB, SCIID and police medical personnel has been set up to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Odoro said.
She said that the victim was admitted at the police clinic for medical treatment.
