All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Ekiti State have been charged to embark on serious voter education in their wards and council areas to ensure members and as well residents are aware of their civic responsibilities, why they have to vote right and the need to have valid voter card.

APC Acting State Chairman, Mrs Kemi Olaleye, also appealed to members who are eligible to participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise being undertaken by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to hesitate to approach the registration points to register with a view to collecting voter cards.

Olaleye, who said party members should take the exercise seriously as the desire to win the forthcoming 2018 governorship, added that possession of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) was a necessary condition to effect the anticipated change in the governance of the state by voting for APC in the governorship and other elections.

The APC boss, who spoke at a sensitization meeting of the Party in Ado Ekiti, said party members should see the opportunity of the ongoing continuous registration exercise to do the needful by ensuring those who have not obtained their voter cards or who have issues with their biodata or transferring their voting place achieve their aims in order to be eligible to vote for APC.

Olaleye, who alleged compromise on the part of some INEC officials at the registration points, said some of the officials had been turning back some APC members, as she urged leadership of the electoral body to call such members of staff to order in the interest of peace and fair play.

The APC leader, who sympathised with workers in the State over what she called the present administration’s insensitive to their plight said: “I share with you your pains and hardship as a result of eight months’ unpaid salaries, unpaid pensions and gratuities and denial of proper welfare packages. We are praying that the Lord delivers us from the present government in the State by removing it from power”.

Also speaking, APC chieftain, Mr Olufemi Aduloju, who said the monthly meeting hosted by the wards on rotational basis was to test the popularity of the Party, expressed confidence in APC ability and readiness to win free and fair elections in the state at any time.

Aduloju sympathised with workers in the state who he said had been betrayed by their leadership under the aegis of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

The APC chieftain, who alleged that the workers’ leadership were bribed to honour Fayose with Comrade Governor, wondered: “How could NLC and TUC union leaders be bought over to give award to a governor who’s owing them salaries? What a shame!!”
