Seized $43m: Presidential Investigative Panel Report To Be Submitted On Monday

The three-man Presidential Investigative Committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, under the chairmanship of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, to inquire into the Discovery of Foreign and Local Currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Osbourne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos and the Allegations of Due Process Violations in the Award of Contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE) is completing its assignment today and is scheduled to present its reports to the President on Monday, May 8, 2017.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, had on Wednesday, April 12, said it uncovered cash to the tune of $43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million in a residential building in Lagos.

The four-bedroom apartment, said to be located on the seventh floor of Osborne Towers at 16, Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, was stormed by EFCC operatives.

The operation was said to have followed a whistle blower’s confidential alert received by the Commission’s Lagos office regarding some noticed suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building.
