By Ganiyat Ganiyu

A Nigerian national identified as on Seun Isaiah McMillan, has been stabbed to death in a playing field at Masefield Crescent, close to his family home.

The deceased, was reportedly stabbed on Tuesday and died from his injuries an hour after making his way to Barnet Hospital at around 8.20pm.

According to the police, he was believed to have been stabbed in a street in Southgate and that a “number of people” would have witnessed the attack.

Witnesses said the 23-year-old was stabbed after an argument broke out “over money” between a group of young men gathered in the park.

Autopsy, however, showed the cause of Seun’s death as a single stab wound to the chest.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Watling of the Homicide and Major Crime Command said, “We now believe Seun was stabbed in Cowper Gardens in Southgate and at that time there would have been a number of people there that had attended in cars.

“We are keen to speak to everyone who was there and would appeal for them to contact us.

“We would also appeal to anyone who saw what cars were in Cowper Gardens at the time of the incident to also contact us.

“We continue to appeal for any witnesses to the attack, or anyone with any information about it, to contact us.”

Reports said two men arrested in connection with McMillan’s death have been released.

Seun’s cousin, who did not wish to be named also told the Standard that his cousin was just so bubbly, he is just a normal guy and he didn’t deserve what happened. He wasn’t supposed to be there.

“The last time I saw him at the park we were playing football, he loved it and played centre back. I have no idea what happened to him,” he said.

Police in the city has issued a request to the public that anyone with useful information about the incident should contact them immediately.
