Two Men Bag 42-Year Jail Term For Robbery In Ekiti

Ado Ekiti, (An24)- Two young men, Ajibade Adeniyi (27) and Tosin Ojo (21), are to spend 21 years each in prison for robbery.

Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, who sentenced the two to jail having found them guilty of robbery, said the case of armed robbery could not be proved against them.

The judge held that the terms are to run from the day of their arrest and detention in 2012.

The duo and Lekan Olatunji were arrested and remanded in Ado Ekiti prisons after committing the crime, but Olatunji was among the suspects who escaped during the December 31, 2014 jailbreak leaving the first two to stand trial.

The accused were said to have invaded a house at Ureje area of Ado Ekiti carting away cellphones and a sum of N20,000.

They were arrested at their hideout in Mugbagba area of the town.

They were first arraigned before an Ado Ekiti Magistrate’s Court before issuance of a advice from the DPP which established a case robbery against them at the State High Court.

Exhibits tendered in court included the statement of the accused, a knife, a cutlass, two pairs of sandals, a mask, two cell phones, two torch lights and some money.
