JUST IN: Again, Suicide Bombers Attack University Of Maiduguri

Maiduguri, (An24) – No fewer than three suicide bombers were in the early hours of Saturday, May 13, killed as they attempted to attack the Department of Works, University of Maiduguri in Borno State.

According to report, the incident occurred at about 1.10am.

A security guard at the University was also killed by the explosions.

The corpses have been evacuated by rescuers from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, (BOSEMA)

​T​he university authorities and security agencies ​are expected to​ provide more updates on the attack.

The University Public Relations Office, Ahmed Mohammed, said he was yet to ascertain the damage or casualty figure as a result of the incident.

“I was told about the bomb blast, but I am still working on it to ascertain the degree of damage. It is very unfortunate.” Ahmed said.

Confirming the attack, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), tweeted on its official Twitter account:

“Three suicide bombers attempted to gain access into University of Maiduguri today. “But were sighted by the University security who stopped them for interrogation.

“While interrogating them, the two suicide bombers detonated their explosives which injured one of the securities and killed another.

“The third suicide hid close to a church in the university and detonated her explosive which affected the structure of the church.

“With no casualty, the injured were taken to UMTH and corpses were evacuated to Borno Specialist Hospital by @nemanigeria ERT team” NEMA tweeted.
