Breaking: Many Injured As Van Plowed Into Crowds Near Las Ramblas Tourist Spot

Barcelona- A van has plowed into a crowd of people in Barcelona, causing several injuries, local police say.

The incident has occured at La Rambla de Catalunya, which has now been evacuated.

The area is popular with tourists and is located in the heart of the Spanish city.

One witness said: “Crashing noise. I saw a woman next to me screaming for her kid. Police were very quickly there, officers with guns.

“it was chaos, you couldn’t tell what was happening.”

People have been urged to avoid the area, with peolpe now shuttered inside shops in the area for their own safety.

Several people have been injured, according to Barcelona police on Twitter.

One shocking photo posted on social media shows at least three people being treated on the ground by paramedics.

Police believe several people have been injured. They were unable to give a motive for the incident.
