Ijebu-Ode Grammar School alumni to build N250m ICT centre



Ijebu Ode Grammar School , Ijebu , Ogun State , Ode , clocked 105 years on January 20, 2018. It alumni members led  Chief Ebenezer Osoba , held a mindblowing ceremony for a new ultra- modern Information Communication Technology Centre in the school.

Osoba said the project was taken as part of the association’s efforts to sustain the legacy of the school .

Emphasising that a committee had been appointed to supervise the execution of the project, he expressed the optimism that it would be completed within a period of 18 months with an estimated budget of N 250m.

Osoba said , “ The contract for the building is expected to be awarded before the end of March after due process by the committee. Our current estimate for the entire project , including equipment and special fixtures , is N250 m .

“ We have to work very hard to raise the funds for the project ourselves and from our friends, as well as from corporate organisations willing to contribute generously to this type of venture under their respective corporate social responsibility programmes for the development of their host communities . ”
In his address , the chairman of the occasion , Otunba Abdul – lateef Owoyemi , noted that the school nurtured him and other pupils that passed through it to what they had become in the society .

Owoyemi , who is a former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria , called on the national executive council of the association to compile a comprehensive database of all the old pupils of the institution and their professional callings .

Aside a fundraising event , in which many sets and individuals made donations towards the building project , the association presented distinguished merit awards to some old boys for their contributions to the development of the school and the country as a whole.

The recipients of the awards are Otunba Abdul – lateef Owoyemi, the Elemure of Emure – Ekiti , Oba Adebowale Adebayo , Otunba ‘ Labi Okusanya , Mr . Adegboyega Oduwole, Otunba Gbenga Ogunnowo and Alhaji Adeyemi Kanimodo .

Awards were also presented to representatives of the 1972 , 78 / 83 and 1986 sets, among others.
