Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi on Saturday met governorship aspirants on the platform of All Progressives Congressives (APC) to discuss with them before picking consensus candidate.

Recall that Oyo State Chapter of APC had adopted consensus arrangement for selecting of party’s candidates for 2019 general elections.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi met the aspirants at the Governor’s lodge, Ibadan in presence of party elders and state working committee.

The governor advised the aspirants to support anybody that emerge as party’s flagbearer.

Our correspondent reports that over 20 aspirants including former governor of the state, Otunba Alao-Akala attended the meeting but Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu was absent.

Shittu last week said President Buhari has given him the nod to contest for Oyo governorship seat.

Meanwhile, names of the three aspirants who have been penciled down by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state to succeed him have emerged.

The three aspirants who are all from Ibadan, the state capital, the same city where the Governor hails from were “narrowed and screened” to three out of the over twenty aspirants jostling for the coveted seat in the party, a source close to Agodi Government House.

The three “favorites” include former Deputy Governor (Operations) Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and a grandson of late Ibadan political icon, late Alhaji Adegoke Adelabu, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; Senior Partner and Head of the Technology Advisory Services and Markets of KPMG, Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe and former Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Lamidi Adesina and former Chairman, Oluyole Local Government Area, Alhaji Kehinde Isiaka Olaosebikan.

Our correspondent gathered that the party will announce the consensus candidate next week.
