PDP Convention: Saraki 'Splashes' $1,000 On Each Delegate

Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki is reportedly paying delegates $1,000 at the ongoing convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party.

According to a report by Premium Times, Saraki paid out $1,000 per delegate on Saturday afternoon in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, where the elective convention is holding.

The online newspaper said in its report that some delegates also said that they were expecting more money from other aspirants.

“We have received our first goodwill from the Senate President Bukola Saraki,” a delegate from Nasarawa state told the news website.

“It is our first dollars here, but we know more would still come from other aspirants, they have been calling us since yesterday.”

It was learned that the Senate President was probably the first to pay out cash to influence the choice of delegates.
