Senator Shehu Sani Joins New Party After Dumping APC
Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, has joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
This was disclosed in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Political and Ideology, Suleiman Ahmed, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Africa News 24 reports that the development is coming after the Kaduna Central dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in protest for not clinching the party’s automatic ticket.
On joining PRP, the lawmaker said: “It has become impossible for the senator to continue to co-habit with reactionaries and their perfidious and inimical style of politics.
“Sen. Sani maintains the highest respect and honour for President Muhammadu Buhari. However, we prefer to live in a Cottage of Honour than a mansion of shame.
“Sen. Shehu Sani has returned to the PRP. PRP represents our socialist revolutionary ideology.
“Sen. Sani is now free from the toxicity and infamy APC existentially represents. We left the APC for the emperors and their lackeys.”
Concise had reported on Saturday that Shehu Sani resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker had lost his return ticket to the National Assembly after losing to Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s political aide, Uba Sani.
The leadership of the APC had submitted the name of Uba Sani to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate for the Southern Kaduna senatorial district, despite allegedly promising Shehu Sani automatic ticket.
