Tanko Mohammed, the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), has sworn in 250 members of the 2019 election petition tribunal.

The inauguration of election panel came a day after Justice Water Onnoghen was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mohammed’s first official assignment since he took over from Onnoghen who was suspended over allegations of false declaration of assets was the swearing of the election tribunal.

At the inauguration ceremony, the Acting CJN told members of the panel to discharge their duties diligently.

Mohammed said the judiciary is experiencing trying times, urging them to stand up to protect it.
