The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has resumed the collation of Rivers state governorship election results. Africa News 24 (AN24) recalls that the process was suspended on March 10, 2019, due to the widespread disruption of elections and violence in Polling Units and Collation Centres.
An Abuja high court sitting has struck a suit filed by the African Action Congress (AAC) challenging the conduct of the Rivers State governorship and the house of assembly elections, which held on March 9, 2019. The suit marked FHC/ ABJ/CS/303/2019, which was filed by the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state, Biokpomabo Awara and Ben-Gurion John Peter, alleged that the election was marred with irregularities. They also urged the court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from collating the results of elections.
The Nigerian Police Force after much pressure from Nigerians, have unveiled the suspected killers of Kolade Johnson via twitter a microblogging platform. The force twitted, “The men suspected to have carried out the shooting of Kolade Johnson have been apprehended and subjected to internal disciplinary procedures. The CP has revealed their names as (1) Insp Ogunyemi Olalekan and (2) Sgt Godwin Orji attached to Anti Cultism Squad.”

Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo has assured Nigerians that they will see significant improvements in two years following the development government’s plans which are set to unfold. Osinbajo made this remark on Monday while speaking at the University of Lagos where he delivered the convocation lecture ahead of the institution’s 50th anniversary.
Sylvanus Eruaga, a lawmaker representing Etsako West Constituency ll in the Edo State House of Assembly has asked the court to order the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return given to Seid Oshiohmole, who was declared the winner of the State House of Assembly poll in the constituency. Seid Oshiomhole is the younger brother of Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Presidency has expressed “deepest condolences to the family and friends” of Kolade Johnson, a football fan, who was assassinated by an officer from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Lagos State Command. Africa News24 (AN24) had reported earlier that Johnson’s death occurred when an unmarked commercial bus visited Mangoro/Onipetesi community in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, on Sunday afternoon in search of youths dressed wildly and rocking dreadlocks.
The chairman Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Mr Shina Amoo, has urged the Federal Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to ensure that private depot owners maintain the official ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) at N133.28 per litre. Shina disclosed this during an interview with news, stating that independent marketers might soon start selling beyond N145 per litre if depot owners continued to sell between N136.50 and N137 per litre.
The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that Governor Rochas Okorocha is plotting to frustrate the state Governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha. The party said that Okorocha has embarked on last-minute appointments of his cronies as members of the state Judicial Service Commission.
