Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reportedly employed the services of a United States lobbyist firm to advance his challenge of the outcome of the February 23 presidential polls. Atiku had rejected the outcome of the 2019 presidential poll, alleging electoral irregularities. He filed a petition before the presidential electoral tribunal, seeking claim a mandate, allegedly stolen him by President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Police Service Commission has approved with immediate effect the dismissal of nine senior Police officers for gross misconduct and reduction in rank of another six officers for different cases of misconduct. The PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, said in a statement on Tuesday that this was part of the outcome of the fifth plenary meeting of the Commission, which held in Abuja on March 26 and 27, 2019, presided over by its Chairman, Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector-General of Police.
Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Tuesday inaugurated a 20-member Transition Committee that would be saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a seamless transition to the next administration on May 29, 2019. Inaugurating the Committee, Governor Ambode, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello, said a smooth transition to the next administration was imperative to ensure that the machinery of government continues to run smoothly without any hitch, considering the economic importance of Lagos to Nigeria.
