The Olowo of Owo town in Ondo State, Oba Folagbade Olateru Olagbegi, has passed away at the age of 77.
A family source confirmed that the first-class monarch died on Tuesday night.
The monarch ruled the community for 16 years, having been installed as the traditional ruler of the ancient town in 2003 by the late Governor Olusegun Agagu.
During his reign, the deceased was appointed a Chancellor of the University of Benin in 2005 and later, chancellor, University of Abuja. He was, until his demise, chancellor of the University of Jos; and a former chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas.
He was married to Olori Ololade Olateru Olagbegi and the family was blessed with children and grandchildren.
