There are indications that the Boko Haram insurgents have demanded ransom before releasing members of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) they kidnapped two weeks ago.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has ordained Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim the new Director General.

Africa News24 reports an official announcement is yet to be made to follow the report.

Shuaibu Ibrahim is replacing Maj. General Suleiman Kazaure who has been the NYSC DG since April 2016. Kazaure recently emerged the first NYSC DG to be promoted to the position of a Major General in over 45 years since the scheme’s establishment.

Meanwhile, the shakeup in the scheme is coming at the time President Muhammadu Buhari signed the new national minimum bill into law, a situation which will see Nigerian workers receive N30,000 monthly as against the current N18,000.

Although Corp members across the country have expressed optimism of getting an increased allowance from the current N19,800 monthly allowance following the signing of the bill by the President.
