All road leads to Plot 1, Water Corporation Drive Oniru, Lagos for this year’s Food and Drink Festival organized by Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), showcasing 300 food entrepreneurs and will run for four days this year.
External Communication Auditor of the bank, Oyinlola Oyinlade, disclosed this during a press conference held at Lagos Headquarters.
AfricaNews24 reports that the festival began four years ago, the initiative has become a premier culinary event in Africa, bringing together thousands of people from across the continent and beyond, to support and celebrate Nigeria’s vibrant and burgeoning small businesses in the food retail sector. Over the years, the festival has hosted more than 450,000 people, featured dozens of entrepreneurial master classes by our own chefs and international chefs and food experts. The festival has also seen to the establishment of businesses of hundreds of entrepreneurs in the food retail industry.
Oyinlola noted that this year’s edition would be way different from past years as GTBank Food and Drink Festival will hold for four days instead of the usual three days, starting from today 28th of April through 1st of May 2019 with more retailers. This year will have two sets with two days each, a working and non-working day and will accommodate 300 businesses over the course of the four days and would feature 15 master classes, covering cooking, pastry, food photography, mixology and audience cooking classes.
When asked about having more foreigner than Nigerians, she noted that GTbank Food and Drink Festival focus more on diversity than nationality for a memorable experience.
The fair will kick off today with master classes starting from 2 p.m while Monday and Tuesday’s classes start at 5 p.m and Wednesday’s classes starting at noon.
Renowned food and drink experts from around the world would facilitate the master classes, which require participants to register online.
