Leah was one of the 110 schoolgirls kidnapped by members of the terrorist group Boko Haram in February, 2018 from their school in Dapchi, in northeast Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari had promised that his government would not abandon her.
All the other kidnapped schoolgirls from Dapchi have been freed — except Leah who her friends say refused to renounce her Christian faith to Boko Haram.
The Girl is celebrating her 16th birthday today and Nigerian, top politicians took to their pages to celebrate her.
Leah shuiabu happy 16th birthday. The God of Heaven and creator of mankind will intercede on your behalf. The fire of the Holy Ghost will plead your course. I decree your freedom from the hands of your oppressors. More grace on all sides. Happy birthday

Today is Leah Sharibu's birthday. She has been held captive by Boko Haram for over 400 days now simply because she has refused to renounce her Christian faith. She is a reference point for courage, strength and faith and a source of inspiration and pride for every believer.
