Despite criticism on frequent travelling and allegations against appointees within his cabinet and rising insecurity in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform the Umrah (optional pilgrimage).

A Statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu and made available to Africa News24 (AN24), today confirmed that the President, accompanied by close personal aides, will embark on the journey on Thursday, 16th May.

Buhari is expected back in the country on Tuesday, 21st May.
