President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sacking of the managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Saleh Dunoma.

A statement by the Deputy Director Press and Public Affairs, Ministry of Transportation (Aviation), Mr. James Odaudu stated that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the removal of Dunoma.

In his replacement, the government has approved the appointment of Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu, the current Director of Airport Operations in the same agency.

Odaudu said that the appointment of Yadudu takes immediate effect.

Africa New24 (AN24) recalls that the now Ex FAAN MD , Saleh Dunoma was the Director of Business Management in FAAN in year 2014, during the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan as an acting Managing Director.

In 2017, his appointment was confirmed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

With the confirmation, his tenure was supposed to end in 2022, but he was sacked barely two years into his tenure.

Before his new appointment, Yadudu was the director of airport operations of FAAN.

He holds professional certifications in avionics, airport safety management systems, airport security management, air transport systems management, amongst others.

The new FAAN MD’s appointment, according to industry watchers, is another attempt by the Minister of State Aviation, Hadri Sirika, to entrench some interest in the sector.
