The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected killer of a female student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Chinasa Agbata.
The undergraduate was murdered in March this year and dumped at the gate of the campus.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, told newsmen that the suspect, one Onudili Sontochukwu, was arrested following a discreet investigation.
He said the suspect was assisting the Police with useful information that could help in unraveling circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mohammed also confirmed the arrest of two persons for allegedly abducting two undergraduates of another university in the State.
He said, “It would be recalled that in March, one Chinasa Pauline Agbata, student of UNIZIK, was murdered and dumped at the school gate same date about 7:30pm.
“Following the incident, police detectives attached to the command Special Anti Robbery Squad launched aggressive manhunt of perpetrators and arrested one Onudili Sontochukwu, aged 25 years.
In a related development, Mohammed said the command had nabbed a syndicate specialised in kidnapping university students.
He said the suspects were arrested in Aba, Abia State.
Mohammed said, “Police detectives attached to the command Special Anti Robbery Squad arrested at Osisioma Aba in Abia State, one Kingsley Ugorji, aged 33 years and Joseph Darlington, aged 25 years, following a discrete investigation.
“Suspects who specialize in abducting university students using various tricks allegedly conspired and kidnapped one Obinna favour, aged 18 years and equally kidnapped one Amakaeze Luke, aged 22 years.
He said exhibits recovered from them included three handsets belonging to the victims, adding that the case was being investigated.
