Osinbajo Gets Tough On AMCON Top 20 Debtors

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday vowed to waive his constitutional immunity to be investigated to ensure persons who spread falsehood about him were brought to book.

The Vice President of the federal republic of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo has charged the newly set up four main antigraft agencies to go after top 20 debtors on the list of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

According to a statement released by Laolu Akande, the vice president’s spokesman, the federal government said it has renewed efforts to recover the N5 trillion debt owed by the debtors.

At a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Osinbajo told the newly task-force which includes the main anti-graft agencies in the country (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission ) to put in place strategic plan to recover the fund in hands of the debtors.

“The key is collaboration. We need a small team comprising these agencies to look at the next steps that we need to take, especially the criminal aspect, forfeiture, and all of that,” he said.

The list shows that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who is the owner of Capital Oil $ Gas owes a whopping N115 billion while Jimoh Ibrahim, the owner NICON Investments is the second on the list with N59 billion
