All is set at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan for the South-west geopolitical zone Security Summit amidst heavy security presence.
Currently at the venue are prominent traditional rulers in the region such as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Adedotun Gbadebo, and Oba of Lagos, Oba Ridwan Akiolu
Others are Olugbo of Ugboland, Oba Obateru Akinruntan, Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi, and Oodua Peoples Congress National leader & Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, among others
The security summit, which is at the instance of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu is aimed at proffering lasting solutions to the security challenges facing the South-west states.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is expected to host be the Chief Host while other service chiefs and five other governors of the South-West states in attendance.
Tagged South-west Geopolitical Zone Security Summit, the meeting was convened by the Inspector-General of Police to unveil his security agenda for the South-West states and to discuss issues and strategies to be adopted in addressing the security challenges in the geopolitical zone.
The event is coming up a few days to the unveiling of new security architecture for Oyo State by Governor Makinde and on the heels of a similar security summit held in June by Governors of the South-West through the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission.
