Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday received delegates of the Dutch government, Netherlands, for discussions on economic partnership at the Lagos House, Alausa.
Africa News24 (an24) reports that the delegates of the Dutch government emphasized on water transportation as one of it’s ways of partnering with the Sanwo-Olu administration.
Speaking at the meeting, the Consul General of the Dutch Embassy, Mr. Jan van Weijen expressed the readiness of the Dutch government to engage with the Lagos State Government on health, transportation, among other sectors of the economy.
“With the excellent cooperation that we enjoy with your office and with other offices in Lagos, we will continue to cooperation with regards to traffic.
“We will also work very well together on the water-ways, where we could cooperate in the field of transportation, using Lagos Water-ways to alleviate the transport by roads.”
“There is some cooperation with regards to insurance, environment, health, education, Lagos city for the next millennia.” He said. “
Responding at the meeting to the proposals, Sanwo-Ou stated that the State is opened to business cooperation.
“I’m sure you know Lagos and Amsterdam of Netherlands have a lot in common where both cities are below the sea level. Those opportunities are available.
“We can advance this conversation. What we need to do now is to enhance and take these to a higher level and fast-track those engagements very quickly.” Sanwo-Olu said.
This online news platform understands the visit is to lay the foundation for a follow up visit in November by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands.
