Appeal Court Removes Reps Member From Imo

The Appeal Court in Owerri on Saturday has invalidated the the election of member of the House of Representatives, from Isiala Mbano /Onuimo/Okigwe Federal Constituency of Imo State, Obinna Onwubuariri.

Reading the lead judgement,
Justice R . N Pemu, held that the same election of Onwubuariri of the Peoples Democratic Party violated the Electoral Act, 2010.

The Appeal Court which upheld the judgement of the election tribunal ordering a fresh election, said the allegations of over over voting, tampering with results and violence were proved by the petitioner , Miriam Onuoha of the All Progressives Congress.

The Appeal Court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw the Certificate of Return which it issued to Onwubuariri. It also ordered that the electoral body conduct a fresh election in the federal constituency within 90 days.
