The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday threatened ‘the full weight of the law’ on any lecturer found to have engaged in sexual activities with students for academic favours.
Speaking at the 11th convocation ceremony of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, the governor reiterated that his administration was committed to curbing sexual intimidation and similar activities in any Ogun state-owned learning institutions.
He condemned the now common act as a thing of shame which should not occur in any tertiary institution where discipline is taken seriously. In the same vein, he went on to commend the work of the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu for his efforts in sensitisation and publications in national daillies.
He said, “Government notes with pride the sensitisation and warning publication by the vice- chancellor of this great institution. This Government will not close its eyes to indiscipline and unwholesome attitude on the part of any staff.”
In the spirit of celebration, the governor announced an automatic employment for the overall best graduating student in the College of Vocational and Technical Education, Bolatito Matthew Olatunde
