The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Abel Diah has on Sunday resigned his position, citing personal reasons.
It is being speculated that the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Victor Bala Kona, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Manu who led the project of the removal of the Speaker have allegedly paid huge sums of money to Lawmakers to seal the deal.
Reports suggest that the move is inspired by problems between the speaker and the governor.
Abel got into problem with Governor Ishaku following the removal of the erstwhile Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Gwampo who was accused of leaking the secret of the House to the Governor.
Ishaku who was fingered in the plot to impeach the Speaker was alleged to have dolled out over N200 million to his loyalists to execute the plot, the allegation Governor Ishaku’s media aide, Mr. Bala Dan-Abu has denied.
