Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, who was convicted for fraud and sentenced to 12 years in prison was heard pleading with correctional officers not to handcuff him.

The visibly shaken Senate Chief Whip was also heard asking the warders where he was being taken to, alongside his co-defendants.

“Where are you taking us to now? Please, don’t handcuff me. I will follow you,” the former governor pleaded.

Kalu was also sighted wiping tears from his eyes with a white handkerchief as Justice Mohammed Idris began reading an abridged version of the 228-page judgment.
