The footballing profession has seen its fair share of highs and lows, with some memorable moments and some not so great ones.
One of the sore happenings in the world of football is the allegation that Bernio Verhagen made false claims to his club.
The con was said to have been detected by the club – Danish side, Viborg FF who are now ready to take up legal action.
The Club had admitted to signing the 25 year-old to a professional contract without actually seeing him play, but then grew suspicious during his first training session where, according to them, he looked nothing like a professional footballer.
The Club has filed a criminal complaint alleging fraud, identity theft and document forgery which it says could involve more people in different countries.
Before signing for Viborg, Verhagen claimed to have played for FC Dinamo-Auto in Moldova, Cape Town City FC in South Africa and Chilean outfit Audax Italiano.
All listed clubs have denied having him on their books, with Cape Town FC saying they had heard of him and had the intention of signing him, but something felt out of place and they pulled out of the deal. Verhagen wasn’t detracted by the failed move as he went on to take shots in the club’s jersey to aid his con.
The ‘player’ doesn’t seem to be famous for only fooling people, as he is said to have a violent history as well.
