Philip Osondu, Former Nigerian Footballer Dies

A former Nigerian Footballer, Philip Osondu has died in a Belgian hospital on Friday.

The ex-international had earlier taken himself to the hospital on Thursday after feeling unwell at work.

The 48-year-old former player had been a regular for the Nigerian youth teams but never quite cut it for the senior side.

He was awarded the World Cup Golden Ball as the best player at the 1987 World U-16 tournament in Canada where Nigeria lost the final to the Soviet Union.
