The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Saturday, has started to mark the properties belonging to the former governor of Abia State, Uzor Kalu who has been convicted and jailed for 12 years over a N7.65 billion fraud.
The sealed premises include those of the Sun Newspapers and Slok Nigeria Ltd. B
The anti-graft agency said that the move was to ensure that the properties were not dissipated since Justice Muhammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos had in a judgement ordered that Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Ltd. be wound up and all its assets forfeited to the Federal Government.
Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, revealed in Abuja that the properties marked included the Sun Newspaper and Slok Nigeria Ltd.
Kalu had been arraigned on a 39-count charge of conspiracy and diverting the sum of N7.65 billion from Abia State while he was governor.
