The Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami have both been ordered by the Federal High Court in Abuja to provide an explanation as to why Omoyele Sowore is still being held in custody after he was granted bail.
The order was given by Justice Inyang Ekwo in a ruling on an ex parte application filed by Mr. Marshal Abubakar, Sowore’s lawyer.
Abubakar had urged the court to compel the AGF and DSS boss to produce Sowore for an “unconditional release” in line with the bail granted by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu.
Omoyele Sowore had been slapped with a treasonable felony charge by the DSS, but was granted bail by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu before he was later rearrested by the DSS.
Justice Ekwo on Tuesday, said he needed to hear from the defendants before taking a decision.
He directed the Deputy Chief Registrar to serve hearing notices on the defendants as he adjourned the matter till December 23.
