Different reactions are currently trailing the stepping down of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle as “Senior Royals”, according to them, to move to North America and seek “financial independence”.
The couple made their decision known in a statement released online by Buckingham palace on Tuesday, which has since sparked mixed reactions on social media.
We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the royal family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” the statement read in part.

@piersmorgan tweeted: “My new @DailyMail column is about Harry & Meghan – the two most spoiled brats in royal history.
@sundaytimesLC: “Buckingham Palace didn’t seem this disappointed by Andrew using his royal connections to party with Epstein. The Twitter fury is unprecedented for Meghan and Harry in a way it wasn’t for Andrew. It feels so wrong”
@technicallyron tweeted: “All the gammon that said Meghan should f**k off are now furious that Meghan has f****d off and this is a very weird country.”
@melbournecarrie tweeted: “U.K. Press has a toddler fit at finding one of their lucrative feeding-frenzy troughs removed. Because ‘modern kindly couple, financially independent, do compassionate charity work for others’ doesn’t sell their sh*tty rags. Good for Harry & Meghan.”
@khumalonel tweeted: “The British are horrible, unrepentant racists. They’ve been after Meghan from day one because Prince Harry chose her and she’s not white. They’ve been wanting #Megxit and when they get it, they are still salty AF. Not surprised by how racist they are. We know their history..”
@trippytip tweeted: “I’m going to risk a Harry & Meghan tweet. IN MY OPINION, Harry is in love but weak, his wife is in love but very much in control. She’s driven a wedge between Harry & his family. He’d be sensible not to burn all his bridges. And no, it’s nothing to do with Meghan being black.”
