Fans of two rising acts, YBNL’s signee, Fireboy and Mavin’s signee, Rema, are currently arguing on Twitter over which is the better of the two singers.
The comparison which has been on since the two musicians came into the spolight took another turn after the 2020 Soundcity MVP awards.
Rema was awarded Best New MVP at the ceremony, an award fans of Fireboy thought it was undeserving of the former.

@qdpaper tweeted: “In my opinion I don’t believe rema has talent and you’ll should stop hyping, the young boy is just using donjazzy influence in the industry. Apart from dumebi your next rated do not have another hit song.
Fireboy & joeboy will last longer than the India rema of mavin.”
@promisewrites tweeted: “I don’t know why Nigerians want to start industrial comparison between Rema and fireboy…just like they did for Wizkid and Davido…abeg just leave these young artists alone.”
@hersheyskinned tweeted: “Nigerians can really be so backwards sometimes. Are y’all mentally ill? Will you die if you don’t compare two successful people for 2.5 minutes? Stop trying to put Rema & Fireboy against eachother, that is arrant nonsense. Both are talented, & have extremely bright futures.”
@mayordarry tweeted: “Fireboy is good
Joeboy is good. Rema is good. T classic is f***ng underrated. Lyta is underrated
Fireboy is a great songwriter, joeboy is a better vocalist and I think Rema is slightly ahead bcoz of his style of music which can attract foreign audience and the promotion.”
@bevtweets tweeted: “Nigerians will not rest until they make Rema and fireboy industry enemies. We are still trying to fix the mess we made of wizkid and davido ..They are too young for this.. Thank God peruzzi and teni maturely cleared it up b4 y’all fueled it!”
