There is an uproar on social media over the death of a mechanic, Chima Ikwunado, who was allegedly tortured to death by the Police in Port Harcourt.
According to a Journalist, Comrade Phil, men of the Nigeria Police force, Rivers state command beat Chima to death after falsely accusing him and four others of robbery.
In a lengthy post on Facebook, Phil explained that he gave his car to Chima to repair and after the repairs, the deceased and some of his other mechanics took his car and that of another customer for testing. However, they decided to drive against traffic and they were caught by the Police, taken to the police station where they were beaten and accused of robbery and cultism. Chima didn’t survive the torture.
The unfortunate incident has sparked a protest on social media, with people calling for justice for Chima with the hashtag #JusticeForChima and the reform of the police force.
