International Relations students of Obafemi Awolowo University have taken to social media to demand sanctions for one of their lecturers who is allegedly known to demand sex for academic favours.

Olabisi Olaleye, a lecturer in the department of International Relations was allegedly caught in an audio recording by a student of the department, Motunrayo Afolayan who accused him of threatening to fail her in his course because she refused his sexual advances.

Afolayan allegedly failed his ‘Diplomacy’ IRS 305 course during the 2017/2018 academic calendar while in 300 Level.

After registering the course again during the 2018/2019 academic session, she allegedly received threats from the lecturer who said “she would fail again and again if she refuses to sleep with him.”

Motunrayo was able to get an audio recording of the lecturer threatening to fail her repeatedly, and reported the matter to the school authorities.

Her matter gained public attention, and testimonies of other ladies began to surface.

Final year students of the International Relations department issued an open letter urging the management to release the audio recording and take action as the students would not be silent.

Their statement read in part, “For years this lecturer has constituted a nuisance and has terrorised several female students, coercing them into sleeping with him to ensure good grades in his courses. This is tantamount to RAPE. Yes, he is a RAPIST AND A SEXUAL PREDATOR.

“We are aware that the audio recording made by Motunrayo is in your custody. RELEASE IT NOW or it will only signify the association of the Management to this case.”

Screenshots of conversations where Bisi allegedly demanded revealing pictures surfaced online as more testimonies continued to pour.
