At least three persons were said to have died while buildings were destroyed in the pipeline fire that raged on Sunday in Ekoro/ Ile-Epo axis of Abule-Egba in Lagos on Sunday.
The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Agency( LASEMA), Dr Femi Osanyintolu had in a statement said: ” A raging fire from the explosion of a vandalised NNPC pipeline has caused panic among residents within Awori, U-turn and Pipeline communities in Abule Egba.
“LASEMA, LAGOS fire service are responding and on top of the situation.”
AN24.net which visited the area where the incident happened, observed that residents were panicky. People fled their houses and shops were closed. A man actually ran out of his house in fear.
The fire was said to have spread to Igoke Estate located in the area.
At the scene of the disaster, several fire fighting trucks were on ground. The police who ostensibly came to ensure order, were also seen.
As of the time of filing this report, the fire had yet to be put out.
